Puff Adder or "Bitis arietans" is a venomous viper species that is found in savannah and grasslands from Morocco and western Arabia throughout Africa except for the Sahara and rain forest regions. Its wide distribution, common occurrence, large size, potent venom, and willingness to bite make it responsible for more fatalities than any other African snake. Two subspecies are currently recognized, including the nominate subspecies.
