"Red to yellow, kill a fellow; red to black, venom lack," so goes that old saying. Using this method of remembering colour sequence of any New World coral snake works pretty much throughout almost all of the Usa. The truth is, it appears to define U.S. coral snakes everywhere in the northern Florida Keys. On Key Largo, one example is, the colors on the eastern coral snakes (Micrurus fulvius) are muted and quite a few, if not completely, of the yellow rings miss. Usually the sole yellow ring visible on Key Largo coral snakes is within the rear from the head. Otherwise they may be banded in a very rather dull red and black. reptilechannel.com
